The 15mm Super-Wide Heliar !

On Film a standard 28mm lens is wide-angle, which makes this 15mm Super-Wide, hence the name. Imagine standing less than a meter from another person and still be able to get him in the frame from head to toe. It's that wide. Plus it's Aspherical (non-fisheye).

The great thing about this lens is the perspective you'll get, even in the most mundane scenes. Which is all great but also means you'll have to find some very interesting scenes. It's not like you can just zoom in to the interesting part and shoot it. Interestingness has to be in- and work together in, the full 110 degree angle of view.  Which can be quite hard.

I recently bought this extremely nice classic film camera, which goes by the brand Voigtlander. They've been making classic film camera's for a while now, they still are and probably will be for a long time. They use either the 'Leica M' or 'Leica screw' mount on their camera's to be able to fit the popular Leica lenses, which are highly popular with the more artistic photographers, collectors or if you just want the best ! The downside with this quality Leica equipment is the price, everything with a Leica logo stamped on it is very very expensive. Voigtlander on the other hand is not. This 15mm f/5.6 cost me about 250 euro (mint condition), and it was even a special edition. Check ebay.com for '15mm leica' if you are curious about the pricing. In the end what Leica does, only Leica can do, but Voigtlander gets damn close. They have a impressive line-up with some already legendary lenses, not only working great but also looking great if you dig this kind of thing. You will certainly get your money's worth. I certainly did.

I’ve shot 4 rolls of film with it now in total. About time for a Behance Project.

The whole set with a 15mm Aspherical Super-Wide Heliar (full-frame)
on a Voigtlander Bessa L (100 Year Heliar Limited Edition nr 199/500)

The ratio is either the 2:3 full frame or cropped to 1.39:1 cinematic widescreen.
Or let's just call it Panorama !

Below: In Spijkenisse and Simonshaven. The Netherlands.
Above: Right in the middle stand the horses from the photo above.
Below: After the storm. With a Lens this wide, a panorama crop not a crazy idea.

And then there was Winter !
Above: Notice the Swans, are they perfect or what ?
Above: A 'Schotse Hooglander'. They're actually very nice animals. Even though it looks like i'm far away, i could easily touch his nose from here.
The End
