TRI-bottle

User group
The TRI bottle is designed for Wheel Weekenders, a user group characterized by casual cycling. The users go for very short and relatively slow pleasure rides, often with a partner and/or the children during the weekend. The users prefer to keep their water bottle in the bag pack while cycling.
‘I have found that taking the weight of the drink off the frame and on to your back makes the bike easier to throw around on technical trails. Which can only mean more fun!‘
‘The number of times I've lost a bottle from a cage and had to stop and go back and get it is just frustrating.’
Design’s benefits
The shape of the bottle is triangular because it is a distinctive shape easy to find in the bag pack and is also easy to grip. Another advantage of this particular shape is that the cap is very easy to unscrew as it fits perfectly in the palm of the hand. The shape of the bottle is generated by a isosceles triangle, so one of the sides of the bottle is bigger than the others two, this is for a better grip, taking into account that the size of people’s palm varies. The bottle is insulated and acts also like a thermos because my user group does not need a bottle just for cycling but a multipurpose bottle since they also practice other sports and like outdoor activities. The bottle has a wide neck which makes it great for adding ice cubes but it also allows the air to flow which causes a better water flow. Texture: brushed metal. Colour: silver. Components: bottle+cap. Capacity: 600 ml.
Material
The bottle is made of aluminium and is insulated in the inside. I chose aluminium because it is the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust, it is ductile, and easily machined, cast, and extruded.
Also aluminium is 100% recyclable without any loss of its natural qualities and most important it is safe for people’s health unlike the common plastic made bottles that are toxic and endanger human health.
Fabrication process
The bottles are generally produced through a mechanical cold forming process that starts with punching a flat blank from very stiff cold-rolled sheet.
