I took at Commercial Printing course this semester that emphasized the technology behind the printing process as well as how to work with a printer professionally. It was definitely the best course I took this semester.
At the last minute (and right before exams) he informed us that he was going to print us up some business cards on an offset printer free of charge. Woah! Huge opportunity for someone without any money. I spent the weekend trying to come up with a concept.
I wanted to play with the fact that it will be 4 different colors printed one after another, making a rich black. Some of the elements are 100% K, others are percentages of CMYK to create a rich black, but the registration is off by just a little on each one. It's hard to see here, but I'll grab a picture of the proof and finished cards later this week.
