Innovative Ideas for Porto Water Tanks
Architecture Competition
Architecture Competition
The objective of the competition was create
innovative uses for its water towers and surroundings of underground
water tanks. These tanks are typically surrounded by gardens and unused
operational buildings, some of which are located on hilltops with fine
views. These spaces are potentially open to the public for
environmentally sustainable activities, compatible with the operational
and safety requirements of their primary water supply use.
1. Extreme tank

outside - a waste concrete tube, inside - a perfect place for climbing
During our design job, we were trying to create a place reminding a deep cave. In the nature, most caves are illuminated in a very specific way. This kind of illumination gives a beautiful effect, witch we've used in our project.
Building is composed from three parts:
-entrance hall with technical support
-climbing wall
-mazzanine and viewing platform on the roof
