Here's my work on a brochure with too many text I wanted to lose but paid not to. This was printed in 2009. It does not include pigs. It's just a figurine I found in the office's conference room.

This is the company's 2nd printed brochure. The first one was printed around 4 years before I started working for them. It was designed like a folder with a pocket for inserts. I wanted to lose the inserts but they needed them for future updates. So other than the 20-page booklet, there are 7 loose pages in the back pocket.

The copywriters were a mixture of people from non-writing backgrounds and did not speak English very well. It took them half a year to collate the text contents of the new brochure and the company name ended up spelt in several different ways. I went to the legal department to settle the right spelling and symbol.

The marketing staff wanted the new brochure to include information from company affiliates. So it's almost like a mini-magazine in thickness and content. I like my work spacious (with more pictures than text) so I naturally wanted to hack away like a mad editor but my work here was solely on the layout and design. I shot those pictures that appear large on the brochure pages. The rest were given to me.
I visited some of the farms to take these pictures. Camera used: Nikon D40.

I wanted to avoid the loose pages because for one thing it's easy to lose and secondly, it keeps no page order. It's like doing a presentation with your slides showing in random. Probably a good idea for another project.

Wordy right-hand page. My least favorite part.

The company did not have an established branding guideline so I was free to use the logo as a watermarked image over different elements in the brochure.

The layout of the inserts were directed by a salesperson, who wanted me to follow an Excel spreadsheet overall look. They were happy about it. (Retch.) I did however veer away from their favorite fonts: Arial and Times New Roman.
