'Pi' chair in bamboo

this chair, constructed in bamboo, uses the techniques of making turned wood furniture.
raw bamboo was initially turned on a lathe and then assembled into the chair, finally coloured with a water based colour and woven with cotton rope.
the idea was also to create a certain amount of dissociation with how bamboo furniture have been asethetically perceived all these years, yet respect its physical properties.
the bamboo is dendrocalmus strictus. it grows solid in areas with less water.
