Penidenium
They call it the Penidenium.
A great white sphere with hints of blue hangs among the stars, rotating, bright and elegant. Spots of black metal appeared across the surface, foreign and man made, unwelcome on its perfect skin. Often, rays of pure light shot out like an arm reaching into the heavens, as if hoping to grab something, hoping for something more than the void and abyss.
It is an anomaly that is worshiped, hated, and mined for use. Bringing life and death, hope and evil to mortal beings that took residence near its warm and soothing glow.
It has always inspired mystery, the yearning to make the unknown known. Even now, as it sits ideally in the vacuum of space where there is eternal quiet, it does this.
The Penidenium calls out for those to learn its secrets.
A lone space station, a city, orbits the massive body. It moves with purpose, caressed by the gentle gravity, by the Penidenium’s soft guiding hand.
There is a burst of flames,
And it explodes.
