We just finished a sweet interaction design project for Operasjon Dagsverk - Norway’s largest solidarity campaign for youth. OD has been active in 62 countries since 1964.

The brief was to make a new and exciting way to explore their yearly projects from 1964 until today. We designed an interactive map combined with a linear time line. This allows for browsing by country (new) to see when OD has been active in a specific country, as well as browsing by year.

During the design process, OD got funds for including video functionality, so if you have a look at the latest years, you can even see the OD videos in the project window.

The application is programmed in Flash (Actionscript 3.0) and collects all information (text/years/images/etc) from an xml-file produced by OD’s administration system. So projects are easily managed by OD and the flash is always up to date with the right text and images.
For you tech freaks: this is all programmed, so if OD updates their site with a new project, the application will update and display another year seamlessly
