Oil Painting - Colour Series

The main idea behind these is the relationship of the different colours.
Colours have long been associated with different emotions. I find it fascinating that an image can change meaning depending on the colours used. Here I have removed the ‘image’ from the canvas and instead let the colours breathe.
Here, process is extremely important: the ways the different paints interact (especially when mixed and treated differently) are key to the result.
I have kept the use of identifiable elements sparse using a few, scattered symbols and identifiable images. Among these are the ‘every-face’ characters, a ship, a guitar and a tree.
