K A R B O R N
Put a little Karborn in your heart and wallpaper your world with glittering lights, delicate patterns, infinite time and…burning cars. If you have yet to come across the East Londoner’s work, it is time to get familiar. Fashioned from bits and bobs of your every day stuff - broken glass, brick walls, flower petals and that tag you pass on the way to the bus stop are given a delicate treatment, layered and manipulated until suddenly, these items have been warped into astoundingly beautiful scenes from the city, from the artist’s mind and beyond.
The 23-year-old descends from electronica pioneer John Foxx with whom he has collaborated on a number of projects. The latest being the Burning Car/20th Century for which Karb has created the artwork for a limited edition 12” featuring remixes by DUBTERROR, canvasses, videos and hand-painted dubplates pushing exclusivity to the next level.
Karborn is also known to pop up as a VJ here and there. He decorates the walls of openings and parties with a live visual mix, projecting on walls his homemade sources, animations and loops with a keyboard, a laptop and sometimes a camera and mixer. If that’s not enough for you, he’s got stories to go with the pretty pictures.
