Description
A survey of the effects of the war in Iraq on American Soldiers and Civilians, and comparing the differences in the knowledge/ opinions between both groups.
  • SURVEY:
I asked soldiers and civilians to anonymously give me one word (
containing the word "less") that represented the impact of the war in Iraq on their lives. I gave examples of how to portray positives & negatives while doing so.

    THESIS:
My goal was to bypass the biases of traditional media outlets, and seek the "truth"... from those who experience it on the front lines, and on the home front alike. The juxtaposition of the many, varying experiences and opinions created a dynamic piece or social design that indirectly assessed the state of the "War on Terror."

  • The words submitted by soldiers are red and civilians are blue.
  • A 64 pg. french-fold, perfect bound book. It completes the project, by providing the explanations people gave for all the words, info graphs, and further explanation of the thesis.

  • 4x6 feet:  the size of the smallest "public display" flag
  • I screen printed the stencil on a large-format inkjet print
  • This poster displays the words I'd received alphabetically, and labelled by color. It's 3 feet wide, by 5 feet tall.
