I've deeply enjoy periods in art history where conventions in artistic expression are severely staid. Medieval illuminations are the particular period that inspired this (hopefully continuing) series of heraldic-like mythical creatures. I wanted to remain constrained to as few anatomical pieces as possible (keeping in the spirit of how heraldic dolphin tails, tiger paws, cow hooves, and lions' mains all look pretty similar).
