Music From a Stapler

A composition entirely created by sound designing the noise made by a little spring inside a stapler. Sampled with a custom technique as a multi-velocity instrument.

Raw Noise
This short clip shows how I was "playing" the stapler.
You can hear just the raw noise of the spring.

Composition
The raw noises have been reshaped into new different forms
as expressive playable sounds.

Grazie Gianni, the Neumann was to capture a warmer signal, the Røde NT5s were great for the details.

In this session I used two Røde NT5 and a NeumannTLM103.
The Røde was for the details, the Neumann to add a little warmth to the metallic sound.
