I like it, it could be used also as an open space where you can find stuff even into a complete mess, and on top of that, you can still find a spot for a cup of coffee!

Lovely idea:
I'ld even more love a version with stacked (plexi-)glassplates (decreasing in size?),so you would get a 3D-structured memory,which could resemble a timeline,or a dearness-level of the items saved from oblivion......
