The brief
Karlsrona Kommun asked us to help them in marketing the city of Karlskrona in correspondence with the hosting of one of the Melodifestivalen events (the biggest broadcast musical occurrence in Sweden).
The client wanted to use existing channels of communication through the web and not simply establish a new promotional wesite.
Our approach
We thought this was an interesting approach, which could work in sinergy against the over saturation of information on the web today. In response to the client's request we developed a marketing strategy based on social networking.
By the combined use of the Facebook platform, Blip.tv and Flickr's open API's we created an online application which allows the user to participate and win prizes by submitting their own version of a popular song (in the form of a photograph or a video) and upload them via their computer or their mobile phones.
Six competitions were scheduled over a period or 12 weeks.
