Maschera da Teatro

Maschera da Teatro. 2009.
A collaborative piece with Gianni Purri.
The line art was done by me, with some edits from the original as well as all coloring done by Gianni.
You can view his profile here: www.behance.net/giannipuri
It's based on Aesop's fable "La Vople Davanti a una Maschera da Teatro" or The fox in front of a theater mask, in it a fox by some means gets into the store-room of a theatre, suddenly he notices a face glaring down at him and becomes very frightened; but looking more closely he finds it is only an actor's mask.
"Ah," says the Fox. " You look very fine, pity you have not got any brains."

“ A
not-so-popular story that has been executed with the utmost quality. I love the
use of texture that brings this piece back to antiquity."

View of the original pen and ink drawing, and a detail, done by me.
