This was made to submit into a contest for The Art Institutes (Philadelphia). The theme being,
"Life Is Better With Art In It". This was my designer statement sent in along with my submission:

"Art" is not something that can be defined. Art exists in every medium of life. Through visual, sound,  and everything else we come in contact with in our daily lives.
Whether we're looking up at the sky, wondering what lies beyond what our eyes can see,  or even staring aimlessly at the texture of a solid white wall. From the ground where plants sprout, to the upper most atmosphere where the unknown lies, art is present, filling our lives with inspiration. My poster consists of floral shapes to represent life, and also a space-like, type of theme to represent art being everywhere, even up to the depths of the universe. Art is  bigger than the rest of the text to show it's importance and impact in everyday life. I incorporated the logos given with my poster design, to give the composition a  more structured , flowing feel. All the focus lies within the text, especially since The Art Institutes logo is in red. There's a vignetting around the corners to place a stronger emphasis on the focal point ( the text). I made sure to off center "Art" since centered focal points tend to throw off the composition and give a less original feel.
