Ku! phone
Ku! phone
More and more producers of mobile phones or gadgets make use of touchscreens. But this involves a number of essential problems, the main being the miss of tactility.
The phone, presented here, demonstrates a quite revolutionary approach to the problem of modern touchscreens. The well investigated physical effect of electrostriction forms the basis of the approach, i.e. a change of the material sizes (linear or three-dimensional ones) while passing a moderate electric current. There are transparent gels with such properties.
Hence, the special relief (i.e. buttons, switches, wipers etc.) can be formed over the mobile’s surface for a given application. And what is more, this technology allows determination of the force that a finger brings to a given area. Correspondingly, a moderate resistance (a feedback) can be generated. For example, wiper movement or button pressing at the phone can fully imitate the analogous elements of traditional systems.
The OLED screen (which is flexible, bright and energy-saving) is
utilized in the phone. The apparatus is
implemented in an ergonomic shape; it can be comfortably placed over a
palm. It has a foldable stand at his
back surface and can be used as an alarm clock or as a lamp (using the OLED’s
brightness).
