Not Forseen begins by describing what is not experimental music in John Cage's opinion. The typography of the book starts off simplistic and clean but as you move towards the end of the book, the typography becomes more radical. Blocks of color start to form the timeline and intricate typography is integrated within them. You begin to learn Cage's definition of experimental music, an action the outcome which is not foreseen. All quotes by John Cage. Main body of text are excerpts from Cage's essay on the "History of Experimental Music in the United States" from his book, Silence: Lectures and Writings (1961). Timeline found throughout the book is a complete list of his musical works.
