International Youth Day (IYD) celebrates the efforts that young people can make toward improving the global community. Hosted by the United Nations on August 12th, all six events have been organized by the non-profit group Directions for Our Youth. IYD encourages young people from all over the world to begin addressing issues that face current and future generations.
This year, the theme of IYD was Sustainability. The program honored several young people for their outstanding achievements. This year, over 600 young people of all ages were invited to an afternoon of cross-cultural festivities at Robert Moses Park(located across from UN Headquarters). I am honored to be brought in to cover such a vital event in world development and education. Below are some of my favorite images from the celebration.
