Informal

We designed and produced Balmond’s seminal book Informal, collaborating with him closely to devise a suitably original editorial concept and structure. The book received the Royal Institute of British Architects’ Banister Fletcher Prize for ‘best book of the year’, has won prestigious silver awards from D&AD and The Art Directors Club of New York, and five other major international design awards, in categories ranging from book design to typography. It also featured in the recent major retrospective of graphic design at the Barbican Art Gallery in London, Communicate: British Independent Graphic Design Since the Sixties, curated by Rick Poynor.
