Illustrations - Cave's "And The Ass Saw The Angel"
The works illustrate Nick Cave's novel And The Ass Saw The Angel . The illustrations, originally created in 2006-2007 as etchings and aquaforts, have been later enriched with colour in Photoshop.

Mule flung himself about the corral, bucking, kicking and beating his hooves, slipping and skidding in the mud (...) For a second ah wondered what the fuck had flung Mule into such a funk. (...) And then ah saw it (...) - a wild dog - a blood-bent beast - a hill hound driven down from the hills in search of living blood.
Nick Cave "And The Ass Saw The Angel" (1990, p.67)

Looking up again, the clearing was like it had been before - dark and murky - and what looked like a falling knife, spinning down from above, came toward mah heart. A silver feather pierced the damp fabric of mah shirt.
Nick Cave "And The Ass Saw The Angel" (1990, p.41)

Ah was scared (...) - here comes Hog-Dogs grunting and snarling in the distance, hungry and drawing near and so on and so forth.
Nick Cave "And The Ass Saw The Angel" (1990, p.56)

(...) and Mule rolled one spooked eye open and upward into mine - and the ass saw the angel, eye to rolling white eye, and long-locked was the looking.
