i agree that the idea visually connected with a lightbulb, IS outdated, BUT the logo is good and will approach clients because of that cliche, so i say go with the second one and add some light rays to emphasize...

first of all "idea" might not be a good idea for any new idea, then whatever you do when you are visualizing "idea" will be outdated...

"labs" isn't look very comfortable there. have you check how that logo works if its sized down. "small". ???? i think idea labs are limiting them self by having a CFL. plus there is a small amount of mercury in them. one more thing, the D is bother me. everything else is sooooo swiss and the D has a wicked end at top and bottom. you could straight it out.

i would kern the E and the A more.

I think I like the first one more, what is Idea labs?

In the first one I should be the "DEA" more thin, to be more compatible with the 'i" lamp!
