Aspirational 3GSM demo.
Acting as a near future example of mobile interaction, the brief was to design a concept that was visually rich whilst also demonstrating a function that would take advantage of new technologies such as touchscreen mobile devices and GPS.
The concept became a geographical shopping experience, imagine Google Maps combined with online shopping. By selecting a product the application would search online and populate a map with appropriate items for sale. The world map itself would morph dependent on retail activity.
For the visuals I wanted play with a very flat graphics. On a top level information appears abstractly using colour and shape to differentiate functions.
An added twist to the concept was an ability to scroll through time. Matching antique items and collectables with their year. The aim was to be able to combine information and entertainment with appropriate advertising.
In designing the time wheel and housing I looked to retro radios and audio players for inspiration. A simple and minimal design that had ‘bling’ appeal.
