Cover Design Assignment
October 2009

For this assignment I needed to take an existing magazine and create 2 redesigns for the cover. 1 conventional cover that uses the style and design that the magazine uses for its covers and a "WOW" cover that uses completely different style that will WOW the reader.
For this assignment, I chose to redesign the October 2009 issue of GQ magazine.

This is my conventional cover. Majority of GQ's covers use a photo of the cover model from the shoulders up and in the center of the cover. The GQ logo is always in the top left corner masked behind the model. The rest of the text is overlaid on both sides of the model.

This cover is my "WOW" cover. I found the conventional GQ covers to be too cluttered and crowded. With this cover I made the GQ logo and the text much smaller to reduce the clutter and draw more attention to the model.
