The Franz identity is based on an alternative
rock/ punk cabaret musician hailing from Brooklyn, New York. His
distinct fashion style and public persona inspired the playful yet
literal logo for a boutique bearing his name. The musician’s most
identifiable feature is a neatly maintained handlebar moustache; he’s
sported one for the past ten years. His wardrobe is consistently black,
accented with a red tie (to go with his dark three-piece suits); his
favorite beverage is a crisp red wine. Like the moustache, the boutique
is old-fashioned but also well-maintained: clean and uncluttered,
specializing in vintage suits. The distinctive shape of the moustache
appears in the mark and is also applied to the packaging as a design
element. The clothing hangtag smartly doubles as a faux handlebar
moustache for the customer to hold up to his/her face.
