A couple months back I created a remix for a group called the Fast Computers. The original track was good and had some strings in it which really made it appealing to me. We played a show together and they heard my Heart & Soul remix. They liked it so much that they asked me to remix one of their songs, "Gravity/Love."
The track sat for a couple months because I wasn't sure what to do with it. After staring at it for so long, I gave it a try and came up with something worth talking about. I contacted Peter, the singer of FC, to let him know that the remix was almost finished. He said that he was super excited to hear it and wanted to know what I thought of performing the remix on stage with them opening for M83. I freaked out a bit, modified the ending to fit M83 a bit more, and sent it off to him. This is the response I got:
"Wow! It's so different than anything I could have possibly expected. Nice work. It almost has an Roger Moore era James Bond feel to it. If that makes any sense. I don't think it'll work with what we're going to do live this time but maybe somewhere down the road. Thanks a billion! You're awesome!

Needless to say I was pissed/shocked/offended by their choice of words and actions towards me sharing the stage with them. The only thing for me to do is to know that I made something I'm really proud of and stand behind 100%. I am planning on releasing this one day and have asked FC for their permission. Still haven't heard back from them, which, to me, equals a big fat YES.
