False Security

The jury for Sculpture Key West was led by Whitney Museum curator and
co-curator of the 2008 Whitney Biennial, Shamim M. Momin. 32 Artist
were selected, names like Roy Staab, Karlis Rekevics, Thomas Lendvai,
Ludwika Ogorzelec, and Diana Shpungin, to name a few. You will see
sculptures in the open field on the beach and amongst the trees.
Amongst the Australian Pines you will find my
work ” False Security”. It is a friendly scene with a bright pink
Vintage camper that invites and tease you to come closer.
When you come closer to the 'happy camper' an open message appear on a welcome mat that states “Trust Me”
Once you enter your head though the doorway you are not greeted by an
expected friendly scene but you will be engulfed by the paradox scenario of
attacking dogs with gaping gnarling mouths that are leaping towards you. On
closer investigation the dogs are hand sewn with paper and have a
dreamlike quality to them that makes the interior of the camper seem
unreal.
