Fake Vintage Rock and Roll Band T-shirts

Aaarrgh! See that big blank spot on the bass drum? It originally said, "Wild Horses," but the legal dept. nixed that idea. Fair enough, but did they have to leave it blank? Why not give me a chance to come up with something else?

The notion of a country-ish band having a Flying V guitar came from a Shooter Jennings album.

A fake opening band for Motorhead.

A flying tiger, with apologies to the Steve Miller Band. The first in a series of winged jungle cats.

A flying panther this time. An homage to the MC5.

I think this one was a panther, too, but let's call it a cougar so it'll seem slightly less derivative. "Rolling Thunder" was, amongst many other things, the name of a Bob Dylan tour/revue. "Roaring Thunder" seems more suitable for Aerosmith or Van Halen.

Not really a fake tour t-shirt for a fake band, this one is more like a fake poster for a fake 1960's San Francisco event. "Loud as Thunder" is, of course, a line from the Iggy/Bowie song, China Girl.

Also not a fake tour t-shirt for a fake band so much as a fake tour flyer for a fake band. Lots of shout-outs in this one. Most are family members, but Boon Theatre in San Pedro is an homage to D. Boon and the Minutemen, and The Cheetah is for Cheetah Chrome of the Dead Boys. Also, Jaime's Hide-Away, Gilbert's and Los Bros are of course in honor of the Hernandez brothers, the co-creators of Love & Rockets, who ruled the cartooning planet in 1984. I don't think this one ever got made.

An Eastern European 1980's hairband, naturally.

Another fake poster for another fake 1960's event, this one never made it anywhere, either.

I like this graphic, but as with many of the designs I like, they decided to run it on a brown ground color. Which apparently doesn't suit me at all. So, the sample t-shirt is safely in storage, and this is the original b&w artwork.
