Exodus is my debut album on my label, Expansion Team Records. It's a project that started in late 2004 and was released May 27th, 2008. I went back to my childhood inspirations of the late 70s and early 80s, and from that naive creative head-space I imagined what music would sound like at the end of the first decade of the 21st Century. And since I was trained as a filmmaker, there's a plot that holds it all together like a soundtrack.
I think it's a shame that kids today don't have the experience of staring at a cover for hours on end while listening to an album. To me, that's the experience that turns a child into a real music lover. I was never a fan of progressive rock, but I loved the gatefold album covers of the era. But I always felt the music never lived up to the imagery on those Yes albums. Some of the funk and disco records came closer. So when it came time to create the artwork for Exodus, Tatiana Arocha (the album's art director and my wife) and I contacted legendary fantasy painter Boris Vallejo and his wife Julie Bell. It was great fun working as two couples, half in English, half in Spanish!
People who are wondering about the secret storyline for Exodus will have to wait a bit longer unfortunately. There were plans to publish the full story but they've fallen through. The good news is that I continue to work on the story (and on the upcoming sequel) in my spare time so you can be sure that it'll be better than had I released it with the album. For now you are free to make up your own plots and email them to me.

What an homage to the past. Way to bring work like this back into the mainstream! Same goes for the music.
