- Event: The School of Rock, Battle of the Bands
Education Through Music (ETM) teamed up with alldaybuffet for one of our most exciting events of the year! We recruited celebrity artists to coach bands of ETM music students who performed their songs at an all-star “Battle of the Bands” judged by our community.
We featured Weekend Top 30 and WKTU’s “Hollywood” Hamilton as our MC; Twisted Sister’s JJ French; The Monney Suzuki’s Sammy James, Jr.; Rachel Platten; Goldspots Siddhartha Khosla; and a special message from The Wu Tang Clan’s RZA.
Tickets were $40 and included a four-hour open bar, hors d’oeuvres, live performances and a DJ’d “after party”. All proceeds went to ETM’s music education programs which serves a diverse population of at-risk students in 17 schools in New York City by ensuring high-quality instruction, hiring qualified teaching artists, providing ongoing training, and performing regular program assessments.
At the end, we raised nearly $15,000 for ETM which is a huge success in our books!
