Derren Brown Logotype
I was recently commisioned to create a new logotype for the new Derren Brown website.
Here are a few different executions. Over time the letter E in Derren alternates between different icons that reference specific things from his repertoire.
The logo uses a combination of elegant serif fonts and more modern san-serif fonts. This mixture represents how Derren uses classic techniques that are re-mastered for a modern audience.
Derren is well know for his gentlemanly and charismatic tones as much as his devilish and sinister side, so this also needed to be evident in the outcome.
The site launches early in 2009 where the logo will appear in various forms.
The logo will appear in several different incarnations. Primarily as the text version and on occasions will mix in various icons that will give reference to various aspects from Derren's repertoire.
These versions below show the 2nd letter 'E' is replaced by the wave symbol from ESP cards often used in mentalism acts. Continuing this style a diagonal line makes use of the 'O' in brown as an ESP circle and again above and below the logo are the ESP cross and square.
One of Derren's most controversial stunts was his live Russian roulette. Here the 'E' has now been replaced by a gun target. I've also put this into a vibrant environment showing maybe how it could work in a TV title graphic.
