Chimei Hospitality Site Design
The Process

The quick walk-thru process of developing this LCD Television Hospitality microsite that you see below at http://www.chimeihospitality.com:

My work has been mentioned with our Chimei client for L7 Creative Communications advertising agency in The North County Times, May 2008, and The San Diego Ad Club News Flash, April 2008 to positive reviews for the site, collateral and continuing agency growth. I am honored to have done this project with them!

What you see below is what you see as the main page today that we finished with:

The Project

The agency I collaborated with, the wonderful L7 Creative Communications, had the job of submitting 3 comps to Chimei Electronics for their American hospitality microsite.  Our challenge was to create a site that appealed to an American audience, portraying a clean, modern, cutting edge, technology-driven site that would display the hospitality-targeted LCD Televisions in an appealing manner.  The Creative Director, Interactive Director, and myself were each given the task of submitting a Home Page and a Sub Page design that would house key elements like a .pdf library, a Flash video and interesting imagery.

First Comps

With my understanding and initial research into the keywords in our Creative Brief, such as "clean, modern and techology-driven" for the Hospitality sector, I decided to then conduct deeper research into every competitor in the LCD Television arena.  After studying a multitude of websites, I was ready to design a unique site for Chimei Electronics.

Client Approval
After Chimei chose my comp design from the 3 different designs offered by the agency, we worked with them on gaining the photography we needed.  They sent a television that one of our designers took photos of that I used for the design of the home page and a CD of images of their 3 televisions for our American market.  Our copywriter collaborated with them on Headers, Tag Lines and Body Copy for each page, as I designed out new elements to accomodate these deliverables. Even though I designed out the site, there were quite a few designers who did help to do production imagery and assist as needed- I am very grateful that we were able to fulfill our scope before deadlines thanks to everyone's pitching in to help where needed!  We were a great team.

Final Designs
The main pages you see I designed in Illustrator and Photoshop CS3; you may see the final home page and sub page below to compare comps with finals.  I typically program out my own sites, but this was a special case where the client wanted Joomla capabilities so that they might edit their own site.  We contracted with an expert programmer out-of-state who wrote the book on Joomla to build out this site.  I managed the account- after over 100 punch list items later in Google Docs, and many teleconference meetings, we had it- a seamless design that matched my creation and a back-end system that allows the client to edit and update their site.

This is how the Chimei Electronics Hospitality microsite came to be.  In this case study of my design, this site has already gained great publicity not only from the media, but from the Hospitality market and has been featured in local newspapers and by the San Diego Ad Club.  Ultimately, the client was happy and we were happy- a great outcome!
