This concept stems from the owner's background. Jay Shindler is a Chicago native, and started his business in the Old Town neighborhood. This concept pays homage to the city, and Old Town in particular, through the use of decorative victorian-style typography, as well as a sepia-tone color palette, and antique-inspired graphical elements. The letterhead will be printed on craft paper, and the reverse side of letterhead will show the graphical typography. This is printed on an angle to give the allure that the letterhead is printed on old store signage. The front of the letterhead will have a label on the top left-hand corner with the store name. Labels that will be placed on the envelopes, which will have a side opening and be made of craft paper. The business cards are double sided and fold into slim cards, and also printed craft paper.
The design concept is continued in other environmental design, such as the interior design, which will include decor, floor plan, signage, menus, etc. An example of this is the lunch menu below. Another example of the design concept continued through other medias is the use of the concept in social marketing. A twitter account was created utilizing the typography and color scheme that was introduced in the initial design of letterhead, business cards, etc.
