Brown Girl Bakery is a start-up soul food catering kitchen based out of Santa Clara in the Silicon Valley region of the Bay Area. Started by Yvette Alarms, Yvette's dream was to produce home-cooked southern style food straight out of the memories of her mother's kitchen. In an effort to capture that childish whimsy and the feeling of her youth as a southern African-American girl with a rich heritage, she approached me about illustrating a new logo for her while further developing her brand identity. I did the work in return for her famous red velvet cake and think it was the best payment received for a job so far.
