Beale Street Barbeque

Beale Street Barbeque was a unique client. I had produced their website while I was in college. It was literally my first job as a web designer, so I wanted to give something back to them while keeping in their budget. Since it's definitely comfort food in a old southern atmosphere, I wanted to match a clean layout with some old flourishes and grungy elements.

Since I was not getting paid much for this project I knew I needed to finish it fast, so I decided to use Google's blueprint and to jump straight from hand drawn sketches to coding.
The food and the staff are the best part at this place. I needed to reflect that character and emphasize the quality of the food.

The grid really emphasizes the cleanliness of the design. The additional elements add to the overall feel, but it doesn't overpower the design. The simplicity here really helped to speed along the development process, especially with Blueprint.
