BBC Radio Nation Ident

These are stills from an animation I created to promote the launch of a digital radio station called Beats BBC (Beatstrumental BBC). A purely instrumental radio station.

My approach was based on the concept of sound and energy passing from one person to another through physical contact of different characters in everyday situations. Situations such as friends greeting each other, or a person bumping into another person accidentally.

The main branding is represented by a main yellow / gold colour palette. The various characters
in the animation represent different genres of musical beat and are displayed in varied coloured silhouettes. As the characters come into contact with each other, they are taken over by the yellow aura and they become the character of focus. The music they represent also becomes the beat
of focus.

My approach was based on transforming the classic BBC logo into a tri-cubed equaliser that would symbolise bass and treble of Instrumental music. With the end tag finishing on the BBC logo.
