"An Evening of Allure"

The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI) captivated nearly 1,000 guests at  its 25th Annual Dinner, "An Evening of Allure," at the Rock Financial Showplace on May 19th, 2007.  The event raised nearly one million dollars toward helping KCI continue its ongoing commitment to the prevention, early detection, treatment and eradication of cancer.  Highlights of the evening included an emotional tribute to the late Dearborn Mayor Michael Guido and a rare and cutting-edge fashion show by industry icon Linda Dresner, a survivor herself.

Guests were seated at one massive dinner table that meandered throughout the room with the intention of doubling as a runway, allowing everyone a front-row seat to the breathtaking fashion show artistically directed by Rula Joseph, long-time employee of Dresner and owner of Emile Salon.  More than 65 young models, each dressed personally by Dresner in garments primarily from her New York and Birmingham stores as well as a few vintage pieces from her private collection, slowly walked the 1,068-foot runway to an original soundtrack of dark, rhythmic, almost operatic music composed by Detroit-born Omar Ajluni.
