The Behance Editorial team tries to get a small diverse mix of projects featured daily. Criteria includes what creative fields the projects are in (we're aiming for an eclectic mix), the extent to which the project tools we fully utilized to use background images/colors, etc... (we try to feature projects that give examples on how to use the project tools), and/or the objective artistic appraisal of the Editorial Team.
We also pay attention to a project's number of "appreciations," and how many projects the author has in their portfolio. We also seek to "feature" the work of Behance participants that contribute feedback to others, comment on projects, and are most active in the network.
Projects can be featured regardless of when they were published - often times we will keep watch of a developing portfolio and featured projects well after they are published. The Behance Editorial Team is simply playing the role of "curator" in this function and regrets that we can only feature a few projects per day and that we will often miss great work. Luckily, all projects can be navigated using other filters such as "Most Appreciated," "Most Discussed," "Most Recent," "Most Viewed," etc...
