Brief Description
Mark Kaufman is a partner at Vivitiv, an issue oriented design firm providing creative services for organizations involved in housing, technology issues, education, the environment, the arts, and more. Illustration clients include in The New York Times, The Progressive, National Lampoon, Seattle Metropolitan, The Stranger, Sasquatch Books, Fine Cooking, Brooks Sports, and The Oxford American. Week in, week out Mr. Kaufman writes and draws the comic strip American Affairs Desk. Mark blogs on illustration, design and culture at http://drawmark.squarespace.com He served on the executive board of AIGA Seattle, The Seattle Show, and was co-chair of AIGA Seattle Design Camp, and board member of Into the Woods. He is also a member of the Graphic Artists Guild, and the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce. He has been awarded certificates of merit from Print Magazine, Graphic Design USA, American Corporate Identity, Creativity, and the Art Directors Club of New Jersey. Mr. Kaufman's design work has appeared in Critique Magazine and he was featured in the book Thinking Creatively by Robin Landa. Mr. Kaufman's illustration work has recently been included in the book The Best of LCD: The Art and Writing of WFMU, from Princeton Architectural Press, Graphic Artist Guild News and Creativity Magazine. Mr. Kaufman and his wife and business partner Jacqueline McCarthy are profiled in the May 2008 issue of Step Inside Design Magazine. Read Less
