Daniel Thai

I’m a graphic designer trying to figure out a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I grew up in Texas but moved to frosty Michigan for college. I had dreams of becoming an ESPN SportsCenter anchor or writing for a national magazine while living in the big city. Then during my senior year, I stumbled across a little thing called design. With its typography, grids and color wheels, design showed me how to communicate visually, and we’ve been getting to know each other ever since.

After graduation, I worked as a graphic designer for a year, focusing mainly on corporate literature. It paid the bills, but that job didn’t turn out to be quite the job of which I had dreamed. Design and I decided to take a break while I dashed off to South Korea to teach English. Between educating elementary school kids and trying to figure out whether the taxi drivers understood where I wanted to go, I picked up another tool for visual communication: photography.

Now armed with my camera, Macbook and Wacom tablet, I’m ready to re-acquaint myself with design and visual journalism. Thanks for visiting.
