These days I run my own web development company - Nexus451 - employing eight people in Dublin, Ireland; we specialise in integrated information solutions and data presentation. I started off as a photographer back in the 1980s, I also worked as a freelance graphic designer, a creative director in a small ad agency and senior web designer with a large web agency. I've only gotten back to photography as a hobby in the last couple of years. It's a strange and funny old world.
Projects
When I took up photography as a hobby again a couple of years ago I quickly went through all the usual stuff and found myself not being motivated. After a while I decided to set myself some projects rather than photograph any old thing. That approach meant that I always had something constructive to do, it got me up off my arse. The first two projects which I worked on mostly in 2008 are: Farmland (a photographic essay documenting the farm where I live over the course of a year) and Coastland (a photographic documenting the coastline of Co. Dublin, where I've lived all my life. Farmland is finished and Coastland is nearly finished. I've a few ideas for another couple of projects but I'm not going near them till Coastland is done.
