The Main ad printed on 11 by 17'' paper.

The playbill cover.

A secondary banner ad. printed on 3.5 by 17'' paper.

Though it really should have been in black and white the feeling that the modified color photo presents is equally convincing of traveling into the past.

The previous photo and this were printed on the tom and bottom of a 9.5 by 11 piece of paper and folded in half to make a centerpiece for a Sunday tea.
I have just recently gradutated from Sutton High School in Sutton, MA. During my senior year the school put into production Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice. I designed the playbill, ads, and helped to design and build the set. I worked together with the director and my english teacher to design the ads, Which I was not paid for my work, I did it to increase the awareness of the theater program. Because more people knew about the play and the play became a success, the theater program will continue at sutton high and my efforts were a success.
The overall theme grew from a reach into the past, as the story takes place in colonial England. The overarching design was of a old ticket stub, keeping with the older theme the ad is not in color, and the two pictures have had noise added to them in order to make them appear to have been taken long ago. The font was chosen to characterize the two themes of the play. The Edwardian Script ITC font was used to show pride and used to show the upper class of Mr. Darcy on the left, while the darker jagged Blackadder ITC font was used to show the prejudice and lower class of Elizabeth Bennet on the right. Darcy and Elizabeth's poses was not only to show where the preside in society, but to show how they think of each other. I did take the photographs as well.
The Banner ads were primarily used around the School campus, while the larger 11 by 17 ads were put up around the town, everywhere from the local senior center to the many churches in Sutton, and even the gas station. The photo of the Bennet family goes together with the simplest ad, they make a table centerpiece for a Sunday tea before the last showing.
