I can relate to that. I used to use Basecamp religiously but I've found it works better for collaboration with sub-contractors and teammates than for communications with clients. Clients would log in only about a 1/3rd of the time, rendering the project management time wasted. Hopefully these tools will become more friendly to the "back-of-the-curve" users within the next few years and it will no longer be a point of contention to get people to use it.

Unfortunately, for the most part, I'm a one-man show and I do a lot of sub-contract work so my direct contact with clients is typically extremely limited if at all. Everything is done through e-mail or basecamp for the most part, and I don't even really use basecamp that much anymore... I had issues with the clients not logging in and checking messages or responding to them.

I'm curious how many of you use collaboration tools to involve multiple people in a project, such as those offered by www.conceptshare.com. I have been using Concept Share to facilitate powerful brainstorming sessions between designers, create more client involvement as well as accelerate the refinement of ideas. For me, this tool has been indispensable. How many of you have had similar experiences?
