I will have to go for Dos Logos. It's a great source of inspiration & entertainment.

I just discovered Basic Visual Concepts and Principals a couple weeks ago. It's a phenomenal resource.

My favorite of all time is the Tibor Kalman monograph. One of the single most inspiring design minds.

My first design textbook from uni, Basic Visual Concepts and Principals by Charles Wallschlaeger and Cynthia Busic-Snyder, is a book I refer to very often. Though it's a textbook and not a commentary on design, it's an invaluable resource that I'd be lost without :)
