I always surround myself with people that are more creative, smarter, innovative, etc. That's how you learn and get better!

I always try to "exercise" my brain with things that do not have anything to do with what I'm working on. For interestingness, I like to read Fast Company, Inc, NY Times and a handful of blogs like Springwise and PSFK.

Surrounding myself with creative as well as joyful people is extremely refreshing and inspiring. I am not a huge fan of repetition, so automating the more administrative tasks is definitely one of the newer skills I am learning. Lastly, I like to read. Wired magazine, PDN magazine, Techcrunch, Behance magazine, and Playboy....for the articles. Lol.

That's a great idea Paul. Sometimes I get caught up doing a lot of the day-to-day tasks which drains me when I have to work ON my ideas.

Some other things I've done is set aside a time each week to knock out all of the day-to-day tasks. So rather on doing them randomly throughout the week, I keep a list of Action Steps to do them all at once.

Naturally, setting up systems for automating many day-to-day tasks will boost creative/work productivity. This includes both business and personal activities - because, for me, they are often one in the same.

"Take the time to work ON your business rather than IN your business."

... Oh, and certain music helps too.
