I'm in a similar situation regarding finances from freelancing, I also work with my husband and that takes priority over any illustrative work I get in. Fortunately we don't have any kids so I still have time for running (my other main joy in life).

Mine is getting the work done while keeping my family on schedule. My husband wants me to be the primary caretaker for our kids but he wants me to find a full time job because freelancing doesn't make enough money regularly. Our girls are still young (6&8) and have activities after school. My sister calls me Wonder Woman and I just say I don't know how to say "No."
