Hey Matt,

I am a design student in QLD as well. The best design courses are at Griffith (Queensland college of Art). I'm doing a Bachelor of Multimedia (visual communication Design major) and I really enjoy it. I'd recommend that course if you don't mind doing a bit of programming (Java, PHP, ActionScript). Another option is a bachelor of design, but for this course you'd have to do a lot of design theory which I personally don't like (Modernism/Post-Modernism, Indigenous Art, art theory).

the design industry in Australia I think is decent, but most of the larger studios/agencies are in Melbourne and Sydney and of course overseas.

P.S Don't go to tafe for a design course, you'll only be learning how to use software. they teach you a skill not an understanding.

Hey,

I am a student getting into the graphic design field within Australia and I wanted some opinions to whether or not the graphic design 'scene' in Australia is good/growing of if it's worth going overseas to do the majority of work. Just looking at design courses here in Queensland there seems to be an abundance of tafe courses but only 2 uni courses.

Cheers,
Matt.
