Due to advancements in broadband and the net in general us lucky old creatives can now work remotely.. but you knew that already i guess. But did you know that if you start up your own agency (in the UK most designers etc are now Limited companies as you get work easier) you can prety much work anywhere in the world. I lived in California for almost 4 years and worked constantly even though i had to return home to the UK every 3 months for a week or 2 as i didnt have a green card. Now my full service UK agency...(www.ingenuityhub.com)- new site being finished at present.
is going very well so i have decided to branch out to the states as i loved working there (it had nothing to do with american girls loving the english accent i promise)... Now i have 2 ways of doing this, the 1st is to employ a company to sort everything out for me at a cost of around $10,000 but i dont see the point in spending that. The other option i have is to find a fantastic designer (be it print, web or motion), art director or copywriter and fund them in starting a us company. Now i will fund all acountant fees, registration fees look after tax returns etc and simply act as a silent partner / creative director. so you say whats in it for me? Well not being from the usa i cant work inhouse where as my partner can (whatever they earn working inhouse they keep after tax) this will help build a client base to pitch for new work that we can do from home... if im in CA on holiday and decide to work on my mac that is legal then the client gets charged through the american company, taxes are paid... everyone is happy. for reasons unknown alot of clients dont like using overseas agencies as they want constant face to face meetings.. i can go to these meetings as a silent partner in an american company as i will not be getting paid to be there.. im simpy working as an investor, investing in my partners company and giving a little advise in pitched etc...

so thats the boring stuff out of the way then...

so who am i looking for then??? Well i guess someone alot like me.. loves the creative industry, working hard, playing harder, making a few bucks along the way and has talent comming out their arse...

i now have 15 years experience working mainly at senior / director level as a designer, art director, creative director, motion graphics designer and director for the likes of legas delaney, satchi and other top ad and design agencies.. i also work as a freelance session guitarist for a few major and indi labels.... but thats another story.. its taken years but now im quite a chilled out guy (now 33) not many can say that after 15 years in the london rat race.. so i guess the next step is check out my profile, email me at - glen@cv21.co.uk or glen@ingenuityhub.com.... and lets start stealing work from all these $400ph agencies that produce the crap we have to see everyday...
