TagsAbout Wing's Art & Design Studio
Better known simply as ‘Wing’ amongst friends and colleagues thanks to a nickname that has stuck from my old school days (even my wife suffers a slight twinge of awkwardness calling me Chris!), I have been happily building a career as a freelance Illustrator and Designer for over 12 years.
Working from my home studio near Bristol, UK, I have come to specialise in traditional brush, pen, ink and vector style illustration (often combining hand-drawn with digital) and have been featured in Computer Arts magazine, Photoshop Creative, Disorder Magazine, Martin Dawber’s ‘The Big Book of Fashion Illustration’ as well being published around the world in a popular series of children’s pop-up books. Other pieces of my work has found it’s way into the advertising and packaging industries.
My favourite topics for illustration include; fashion, portraits, tattoo flash, lowbrow art, pin-ups, poster art and quirky children’s books, all of which draw inspiration from the gods of illustration such as; Drew Struzan, Norman Rockwell, J.C. Leyendecker, Alex Ross, Dave Stephens, Will Eisner, Jack Kirby, Gill Evergren, Ralph Bakshi and soooo many more.
When not drawing you’ll find me watching movies, preaching to my friends about movies, listening to movie soundtracks (with some grunge, metal, Jazz & funk thrown in), reading vintage detective novels and stressing over the fact that i’m not drawing.
